Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

How can I schedule my first appointment?

If you are interested in scheduling with one of our counselors, please call or message our office and our intake specialists will be glad to help! The first steps include becoming familiar with what type of counseling you are looking for, and which of our counselors would be the best "fit" for your needs. After that we will assist with financial arrangements, and get you booked!

What should I bring with me to my first appointment?

Please bring your ID and your insurance card (if applicable) for us to copy.  In order to maximize your time with us, please ensure you have completed the necessary paperwork BEFORE your session, either via our portal or using our paper forms (linked above). Feel free to bring along any journals/notes that you feel may be helpful, as well as a way to take notes.

Can I schedule an appointment on someone else's behalf?

In most cases, our counselors ask adults to schedule their own appointments, however there are exceptions. Please speak with an intake specialist to discuss your specific circumstances.

Will my counseling be covered by insurance?

That depends!

For individual counseling sessions, our Licensed Counselors can accept many major health insurance plans, and we are happy to file claims on your behalf. Please note that each behavioral health policy is unique, and there is no way to accurately predict your individual benefits without completing your first session and filing an actual claim. A billable medical diagnosis must be determined, if present. Insurance eligibility, deductibles, and co-payments must also be determined, and often change each calendar year.

We are normally able to receive feedback from insurance companies within one or two weeks, sometimes sooner. Rest assured that we will work diligently to make full use of each client’s insurance benefits if possible, and our clients will always receive full value for any credits due.

Does Summit offer free counseling?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer free counseling at this time. Please contact an intake specialist to explore a discounted rate, or for referral recommendations.

What if I can't make it to my appointment?

Prior to your appointment you should receive an automated appointment reminder (if not, please let our front desk know!). Please take note of the day/time of your appointment. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please call our office ASAP so we can offer your appointment time to other clients who may be waiting! There is a great demand on all of our provider’s schedules from established clients, new clients and professional referrals. Every time slot is valuable and can be utilized by someone.

If you do not call the office within 24 hours of your appointment and/or fail to show up as scheduled, a $50 missed appointment fee applies to reimburse the counselor for their lost time and revenue.

Can I pay with my HSA/FSA card?

Our terminal/point of sale is classified as a health care facility, so in most cases, yes!

Can I bring my children with me?

We cannot allow children unsupervised in the lobby for liability reasons, and we strongly recommend finding childcare rather than bringing children with you to your session in order to reduce distraction. Please speak with your counselor or call the office if you have an emergent need/special circumstance. Thank you!
